SYNOPSIS

Our days, New Year's Eve. The scene is a godforsaken village in the middle of Russia, somewhere in the Perm region. Most of the houses are either abandoned or falling apart from old age. Many residents died, and young people moved to federal cities. The entire village was left with a few old drunks, visiting poachers and livestock. The main character of the film is a mirror of the described layer, a stubborn but sincere old man who does not want to leave the house and the old ram. At night the whole sky is dotted with stars. The grunting of a boar can be heard from the forest; the rest of the time there is hopeless silence.

The film begins with a dialogue between the grandfather and the Alice smart speaker. At first, the main character does not understand who is answering him: either he is going crazy, or the love of his life is talking to him.

As the plot develops, we meet an old ram named Boris and a grandfather's son named Mitya. The son, unlike the ram, was able to go to the capital on his own, where he successfully delved into the adult film industry. The son can no longer and does not want to go to his father in the darkness. The last time Mitya came was two months ago. Once again disappointed by the appearance of the village, the young man decided to start an industrial revolution and called in workers who installed the Internet. True, the roof in my grandfather’s toilet was still rotten. When leaving, Mitya connected and hid the “smart” speaker with “Alice” in the hut, without telling his father anything.

Grandfather is not going to leave for the city, much less commit suicide. Gradually, a smart device replaces not only the only living comrade - the old ram, but even the hope for long-awaited grandchildren. The grandfather discusses issues of religion and the entire universe with “Alice,” but one night some wild animal, completely emboldened, climbs onto the protagonist’s property and attacks the old ram. Hearing that there is a stranger on the territory, the grandfather drives away the uninvited guest with a shot from a double-barreled shotgun, thereby saving his comrade.

This is a story about a man who, it would seem, is not needed, his statute of limitations has expired, but that’s not the case. At the end, the grandfather and the ram go out into a brightly lit doorway, and artificial intelligence accompanies them to cheerful music. Captions. “There is no Internet connection” - the last words of the named granddaughter Alice, sounding in complete darkness.
